Volunteer Information

MECWS depends on volunteers to ensure the safety of both our guests and the facility. We cannot operate this program without community members who are willing to give of their time to ensure that people are not left out in the cold. If you would be willing to help, please let us know.

Interested in Volunteering?

MECWS currently opens whenever the weather forecast calls for temperatures and/or windchills below 10° for multiple hours through the night. Because the weather forecast changes from day to day, we are often unable to provide notice about our schedule much earlier than 24 hours in advance.

We are seeking volunteers to take a 4-hour shift each night. These shifts are:

• Shift 1: 7:45 p.m. to midnight
• Shift 2: Midnight to 4 a.m.
• Shift 3: 4 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.
